Cadenza is a photo that richly represents the theme, Soundscape. In the photo, you capture an authentic, human moment where sound connects two subjects. The smile and the face scrunch demonstrate just how rare and intimate this moment is. The bookshelves, the bright red lipstick, and the partner’s gaze all lead us to the subject’s face and the earbuds they share. To us, the wired earbuds exemplify a sonic connection, one that is both physical and emotional. After all, human connection is one of the most amazing things life has to offer, and Cadenza faithfully uses a visual medium, photography, to show us how sound continues to connect us. It’s for all these reasons and more that Cadenza was selected as the editor’s choice.
